Assistant Manager – Finance Optimisation (FAAS) – London/Reading/Manchester

About the role

EY’s Finance Optimisation team within Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) is seeking an Assistant Manager to support CFOs and finance functions across London, Reading or Manchester. You will help clients navigate complex accounting, finance and reporting challenges by leveraging policies, processes, data and emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end delivery of physical and virtual projects, assessing risks and driving outcomes.
• Develop high‑quality reports and presentations (PowerPoint, Word) that capture problem statements and recommendations.
• Oversee internal financial, quality and risk management on client engagements.
• Foster functional and technical skill development within the FAAS team.
• Lead business development activities, preparing proposals for new and existing clients.
• Build strong internal and external networks to enhance collaboration.
• Promote an innovative environment based on client, market and service‑line insights.

Required profile

• Accountancy qualification (ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent.
• Background in financial reporting, assurance or audit.
• Extensive experience in assurance, consulting or transformation roles within a Big 4, consulting firm or industry.
• Hands‑on experience with accounting, finance and reporting processes such as Record‑to‑Report, financial close, consolidation and reporting.
• Experience in business and finance transformation and change initiatives.
