Assistant SENCo – Secondary School (Manchester)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant SENCo to join a thriving secondary school in Manchester. The role supports the SENCo in delivering high‑quality provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, helping to improve outcomes and inclusive learning.

Key responsibilities

• Identify pupils’ additional needs and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Assist in preparing and submitting SEND applications, statements and individual education plans.
• Work closely with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure effective support.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote inclusive practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting students with SEN/D.
• Good understanding of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Experience in SEND administration, including writing plans and applications.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, families and external partners.
• Positive, patient, empathetic and professional attitude.
