Assistant SEND Coordinator – Secondary School (North Manchester)

About the role

Cover People UK are recruiting an Assistant SENDCo to support a large secondary school in North Manchester. The role starts on 1 September and is initially term‑time only, offering the chance to work within a busy SEND team that supports a high number of EHCP students.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the SENDCo in coordinating and delivering SEND provision across the school.
• Manage a substantial caseload of pupils with EHCPs and additional learning needs.
• Arrange and lead meetings with parents, carers, external agencies and professionals.
• Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP documentation and overall SEND administration.
• Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral teams, senior leaders and outside agencies to ensure appropriate support.
• Monitor student progress and help implement targeted interventions.
• Provide advice to colleagues to promote inclusive teaching practices.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant SENDCo or in a similar SEND coordination role.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a large, fast‑paced workload.
• Excellent initiative and the capacity to work collaboratively within a dedicated team.
• Commitment to inclusive education and supporting students with additional needs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation.
• Experience coordinating meetings with external agencies and families.
• Ability to produce clear SEND documentation and reports.
