Associate Counsel – Compliance – Europe and Middle East (4+ PQE)

About the role

The Associate Counsel – Compliance will support the NBA’s compliance programme across Europe and the Middle East, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and internal policies. Based in London, the role works closely with the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and regional business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead third‑party due‑diligence vetting in line with NBA policies, assessing legal, regulatory and reputational risk.
• Analyse deal terms, third‑party information and risk reports, and provide concise assessments and recommendations.
• Draft due‑diligence reports summarising findings and suggested actions.
• Offer general compliance guidance to regional employees, focusing on anti‑bribery, sanctions, conflicts‑of‑interest and business conduct.
• Support regional lawyers in reviewing compliance‑related contractual provisions.
• Deliver due‑diligence and compliance training to regional staff.
• Track and communicate the status of open compliance issues.

Required profile

• 4‑7 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in a top‑tier multinational law firm or comparable corporate environment.
• Law degree from a leading U.S. or U.K. university.
• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales and/or admitted to a U.S. bar.
• Demonstrated ability to balance commercial objectives with risk management.
• Strong analytical, writing and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive problem‑solving and ability to work autonomously in a high‑volume environment.
• Experience collaborating across borders with legal and business stakeholders.
