Back-End Developer – Remote, £50k‑£55k + Bonus

About the role

Sessions is looking for a Back-End Developer to join its fast‑growing engineering team. You will work remotely, travelling to London once a month, and help build and maintain the server‑side logic, APIs and data pipelines that power Sessions Serve and other internal products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, secure backend services and REST APIs.
• Implement serverless solutions on AWS using Lambda and the Serverless Framework.
• Work with DynamoDB as the primary data store and replicate data to ElasticSearch.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and product owners to define requirements and delivery timelines.
• Debug, troubleshoot and optimise existing codebases to ensure high performance.

Required profile

• Degree from a top‑tier university.
• At least 3 years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

Required skills

• JavaScript (ES2022+) and Node.js (v18 or higher).
• AWS services, especially Lambda and Serverless Framework.
• Experience with DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Building RESTful APIs using Express or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude.
