Building Surveyor – Birmingham

About the role

Barker Associates is seeking a Building Surveyor to join its Birmingham office. The role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, supporting clients from concept through to completion while embedding sustainability at the core of each development.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct building condition surveys and produce clear, insightful reports for clients.
• Assist in preparing tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules of work.
• Support tender submissions, contractor analysis, and drafting of JCT construction contracts.
• Participate in pre‑contract briefings and ensure smooth handovers to the project team.
• Carry out regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and health & safety compliance.
• Represent the business at client and project meetings with professionalism and technical confidence.
• Travel to sites and client locations as required.

Required profile

• A relevant degree or strong working experience in building surveying.
• Experience working with AutoCAD.
• Working towards or holding RICS Chartership.
• Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
