Clerk of Works – Cladding Remediation (London)

About the role

Brandon James Ltd is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to join its expanding project delivery team in London. The role is site‑based, covering new‑build and refurbishment schemes with a focus on cladding remediation and fire safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Clerk of Works on cladding and refurbishment projects.
• Carry out regular site inspections and verify contractor compliance with drawings, specifications, Building Regulations and warranty standards.
• Inspect workmanship across structural, façade, fire stopping, fire doors, dry‑lining, masonry and finishing elements.
• Monitor and report on fire safety compliance, including Approved Document B, BS 9999 and BS 9991.
• Conduct snagging inspections prior to Practical Completion and issue defect reports.
• Produce detailed inspection reports using tablet‑based reporting systems.
• Liaise with consultants, design teams and contractors to resolve quality and compliance issues.
• Attend project meetings and contribute to QA and quality discussions.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience as a Clerk of Works, Fire Protection Inspector or similar construction inspection role.
• Strong technical or trade background with proven knowledge of fire safety regulations and building standards.
• Experience with higher‑risk buildings and façade remediation projects is preferred.
• Membership of ICWCI, MCIOB, RICS, IFE or similar professional body is desirable.
• Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, FPA, IFE or Site Management certifications are advantageous.
