Clerk of Works – M&E Specialist

About the role

Brandon James Ltd is looking for a field‑based Clerk of Works to join its Birmingham team, overseeing Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) quality across a diverse portfolio of construction projects throughout the Midlands.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect M&E installation workmanship, quality and safety on site.
• Produce and distribute detailed site inspection, progress and quality control reports.
• Attend project meetings with clients, surveyors and contractors, providing verbal updates.
• Identify defects, non‑compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Support snagging, de‑snagging and handover procedures.
• Maintain photographic records of progress and issues.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector or Quality Inspector.
• Strong understanding of building construction standards and residential developments.
• Experience with M&E inspections and quality control.
• MICWCI status or commitment to obtain it.
• Valid CSCS card and clean UK driving licence.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
