Cloud Data Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Platform team within LexisNexis Risk Solutions. You will help operate and evolve cloud‑based database platforms that power critical insurance risk services, working in a modern AWS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and evolve highly available cloud database platforms hosted in AWS.
• Design and implement scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Monitor, analyse, and optimise database and platform performance.
• Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices.
• Support backup, recovery and business continuity capabilities.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve performance, stability, and security.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience in database engineering, cloud platform operations, or related infrastructure engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and Aurora.
• Proficiency in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup and recovery.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Linux administration and scripting or programming skills, preferably Python.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Understanding of security best practices applied to platform design and operations.
