Community Staff Nurse – School Nursing

About the role

The West Dunbartonshire HSCP is seeking an enthusiastic Community Staff Nurse to join the School Nursing team. Working from Dumbarton Health Centre, you will partner with children, young people and their families to promote physical and emotional wellbeing in a school setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan and implement care programmes for school‑aged children as directed by the school nurse.
• Develop evidence‑based programmes in partnership with children, families, multi‑agency partners and the wider community.
• Provide safe, accessible and person‑centred care while adhering to GIRFEC principles.
• Manage your own workload and support the wider nursing team.
• Travel across West Dunbartonshire to deliver services as required.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a first‑level degree and a live NMC UK PIN.
• Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development.
• Working knowledge of child protection systems and GIRFEC principles.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal abilities.
• Leadership experience and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IT systems used in health and education settings.
• Familiarity with child protection information systems.
