Construction Manager – New Build & Site Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Construction Manager to lead the delivery of new‑build developments and site‑maintenance programmes across our Leeds‑based portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Construction, you will work from our modern headquarters and travel to multiple sites, coordinating internal teams, contractors and tenants to ensure high‑quality, on‑time outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee contract and project management, ensuring projects meet deadlines, quality standards and customer expectations.
• Manage budgets, cost control and financial reporting in collaboration with the Finance function and external Quantity Surveyor.
• Develop and maintain live project schedules and resource allocation plans visible to the wider team.
• Chair and attend pre‑start meetings with subcontractors, driving operational efficiency through planning, risk management, project controls and Lean principles.
• Provide clear progress, risk and performance reports to senior leadership.
• Support the Quantity Surveyor in tender preparation and final review before board approval.
• Liaise with internal property, finance and commercial teams, acting as the primary contact for customers, tenants and consultants.
• Manage relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and external consultants.
• Ensure health and safety compliance with HSE regulations, reviewing RAMS, method statements and permit‑to‑work documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing construction projects, preferably new‑build and maintenance programmes.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control and financial reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commitment to health and safety best practice.
• Ability to work hands‑on and travel between sites as required.
