Consultant in Acute & General Medicine

About the role

The Acute Medicine Department at Prince Philip Hospital is creating a new full‑time Consultant position in Acute and General Medicine. The role will lead the assessment and treatment of front‑door patients across the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways, and will help shape a 7‑day acute medicine service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee medical care for patients in AMAU and SDEC on a rotational basis.
• Lead "hot" specialty clinics and support the development of the new Urgent Care Centre.
• Participate in the on‑call rota (1:11) for Prince Philip Hospital.
• Collaborate with colleagues across Hywel Dda University Health Board to deliver integrated acute services.
• Support sub‑specialty interests and liaison work with other medical specialties as required.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with a Consultant appointment in Acute Medicine.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality acute and general medical care.
• Willingness to engage in service development and strategic planning.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and across multiple sites.
