Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (Birmingham)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to support a welcoming secondary school in the Birmingham area. This role offers valuable classroom experience for graduates, aspiring teachers and experienced cover staff who are passionate about education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑planned lessons across a wide range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities.
• Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Keep students on task and motivated throughout each lesson.
• Provide constructive feedback to teaching staff after each session.
• Assist with the smooth running of the school day and support teachers as needed.

Required profile

• Confident communicator with a strong classroom presence.
• Experience working with young people through school work, coaching, youth work or tutoring.
• Flexible, reliable and able to adapt to varying timetables.
• Passion for education and supporting student success.
• A degree is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
• Strong organisational skills to follow lesson plans.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students and staff.
