Data Scientist Intern – PhD Level

About the role

Join Lubrizol’s Data Science & Statistics team as a PhD‑level Data Scientist Intern. You will work on cutting‑edge analytics projects that support sustainable product development and provide data‑science consulting to technical teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop predictive models by mining complex formulation and testing data.
• Implement and evaluate algorithms in R and Python (optional use of SAS, JMP, C#/C++).
• Research, prototype, and operationalize new statistical, machine learning, or optimization methods.
• Improve forecasting algorithms and explore cheminformatics modelling.
• Investigate active‑learning approaches for process‑optimization scheduling and inventory management.
• Accelerate product development cycles using emerging AI techniques such as LLMs, RAG, or agentic AI.

Required profile

• PhD‑level education in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, data science, chemistry, engineering).
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in predictive modeling and machine learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
