About the role

British Transport Police is seeking a Data Scientist to join its Analytics and Insights team. In this 12‑month fixed‑term role you will apply advanced analytics to improve policing outcomes across the rail network, working in a hybrid home‑office environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the application of data science and advanced analytics to solve complex organisational challenges.
• Develop predictive models and analytical products such as demand, crime and vulnerability modelling.
• Translate business problems into data‑driven solutions and communicate insights to senior leaders.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the force to support better decision‑making.
• Explore new tools, techniques and data opportunities to drive innovation.

Required profile

• A degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science).
• Experience applying data science techniques such as machine learning, predictive modelling and data analysis to real‑world problems.
• Strong ability to communicate complex analytical insight clearly and influence senior decision‑making.
