Designated Safeguarding Lead (Grade 4) – Part‑time Mentor

About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking a Grade 4 Designated Safeguarding Lead to join a specialist SEN college in Birmingham. This part‑time position (four days a week) combines safeguarding leadership with mentoring, coaching and employability support for 14‑19‑year‑old learners.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage all safeguarding and child‑protection duties in line with statutory guidance.
- Act as the primary contact for safeguarding concerns, make referrals and liaise with external agencies.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding records and ensure policy compliance.
- Deliver mentoring and coaching sessions to promote personal development and well‑being.
- Plan and run employability workshops preparing students for further education, training or work.
- Collaborate with staff, parents/carers and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for learners.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a safeguarding leadership role, preferably at Grade 4 level.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- Experience working with young people who have SEN, including SEMH, ADHD, ASD, anxiety and trauma.
- Excellent communication, organisational and relationship‑building abilities.
