About the role
The Designated Safeguarding Lead will be a key member of the senior leadership team in a specialist SEN school, responsible for creating a safe, welcoming environment where students can develop confidence and essential life skills. You will work closely with staff, parents and external agencies to promote the welfare and progress of every child.
Key responsibilities
- Lead behaviour, welfare and attendance initiatives, coordinating with staff, parents and third‑party agencies.
- Create and sustain a welcoming learning environment that fosters confidence and engagement.
- Develop and embed a culture that builds confidence and promotes positive student outcomes.
- Design, implement and monitor safeguarding policies and procedures across the school.
- Manage positive processes for behaviour, well‑being and attendance, ensuring consistent practice.
- Support and manage the pastoral support team to achieve targeted outcomes.
Required profile
- Qualified Pastoral Lead or Designated Safeguarding Lead with experience in an SEN setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to the future prospects of children and young adults.
- Proven ability to manage and implement policy, including handling complex data.
- Strong collaborative skills, working effectively with staff, families and external partners.
- Positive, proactive attitude with a genuine passion for safeguarding.
