Domestic Assistant – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

This position is central to the day‑to‑day operation of Bedfont Lane Children’s Home, ensuring a clean, safe and dignified environment for children and young people. Working as part of the residential team, the Domestic Assistant supports hygiene, laundry and general housekeeping duties.

Key responsibilities

• Clean designated areas of the home, including bedrooms and communal spaces, to high standards of hygiene.
• Perform laundry duties such as washing, drying, ironing and managing linen stock.
• Safely operate domestic laundry and cleaning equipment.
• Manage cleaning materials efficiently and follow health and safety procedures.
• Report any hazards, defects or concerns promptly.
• Work flexibly with staff and young people to meet individual needs.
• Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Practical, hands‑on approach with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a residential care team.
• Commitment to maintaining the dignity and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Reliability, flexibility and good communication skills.
• Awareness of health and safety standards in a care setting.
