Domestic Assistant/Porter – Hawick Health Centre

About the role

The NHS Scotland Facilities Department at Hawick Health Centre is seeking a Domestic Assistant/Porter to join its dedicated team. This permanent position works early mornings, Monday to Friday, providing essential support to keep the centre clean, safe and welcoming for patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of domestic duties including cleaning, waste disposal, and linen handling.
• Maintain infection‑control standards throughout the health centre.
• Support the smooth operation of clinical areas by ensuring equipment and environments are tidy and ready for use.
• Assist with the set‑up and breakdown of rooms for appointments and procedures.
• Adhere to the NHS Borders Behavioural Framework and health‑and‑safety policies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated competence in domestic and cleaning activities within a healthcare setting.
• Flexibility to work the early shift (06:00‑11:00) Monday‑Friday.
• Knowledge of the NHS Borders Behavioural Framework.
• Ability to meet UK right‑to‑work requirements and undergo relevant background checks, including possible PVG registration.
