Electronic Engineer – Consumer Beauty Appliances

About the role

We are looking for an Electronics Engineer to join our Software & Electronics team in Cambridge. You will develop hair‑care and beauty appliances, taking ownership of hardware projects from concept through to production while working in a fast‑paced, start‑up‑like environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to new electronics hardware development projects, including specification, design, implementation and testing.
• Improve internal hardware development processes in collaboration with the Head of Software & Electronics.
• Support EMC design, testing and compliance activities.
• Perform product testing for functionality, reliability and safety; create professional test reports.
• Carry out PCB rework, prototyping and layout (up to 6‑layer, flex and flex‑rigid).
• Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure proper mechanical fit.
• Manage work packages, provide regular updates and meet deadlines.
• Liaise with external suppliers and contract manufacturers.
• Develop and assist with test procedures for lab and manufacturing testing.

Required profile

• Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience with embedded systems for high‑volume electronics.
• Strong understanding of analogue, SMPS, EMC/EMI and PCB fundamentals.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and solve engineering issues.
• Enthusiasm for product development in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• PCB design and schematic capture (Altium preferred).
• Test equipment proficiency: thermocouples, infrared cameras, oscilloscopes, DMM, current probes, power supplies.
• Analogue circuit design (op‑amps, MOSFETs, transducers).
• Digital interfacing protocols (I²C, SPI).
• AC/DC power supply and TRIAC circuit design.
• BLDC motor drive design and tuning.
• Flex and flex‑rigid PCB layout (up to 6 layers).
• EMC design and testing.
• RF/Bluetooth design, antenna matching and selection.
• Safety and circuit protection design.
