English Teacher – Secondary School (Full‑time)

About the role
We are seeking a passionate English Teacher to join a well‑resourced secondary school in Birmingham. The role is full‑time, five days a week, delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to support progress.
- Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment that encourages achievement.
- Monitor and record student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and wider school activities.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom management and communication abilities.
- Commitment to raising student attainment and fostering a love of literature.
- Current enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Required skills
- Knowledge of the English National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Ability to design and assess engaging lesson plans.
