Events Lead, UK & International

About the role

Substack is seeking an Events Lead to design and deliver a year‑round programme of brand‑focused events in the UK and to shape an emerging international calendar. You will work at the intersection of culture, technology and media, creating memorable experiences that amplify Substack’s mission and attract creators and subscribers.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and execute a UK events strategy while ideating and overseeing flagship moments in key international territories.
• Manage the full event lifecycle—from concept and promotion to on‑site coordination—ensuring each activation reflects Substack’s creative standards and gains social and press traction.
• Partner with internal and external teams, providing guidance to Partnership Leads and securing strong execution across markets.
• Own the UK events budget, establish measurement frameworks, track ROI and build scalable processes for global rollout.
• Recruit, lead and coordinate freelancers and contractors, leveraging a deep network of agencies and vendors.

Required profile

• 8+ years of senior experience in experiential event marketing and production, with a proven record of scaling event strategies.
• Strategic vision combined with a hands‑on, detail‑oriented approach; excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Creative storyteller who can conceive unexpected, high‑impact ideas.
• Strong network of premier agencies, vendors and freelance talent across creative and production disciplines.
