Export Ocean Coordinator – Freight Forwarding

About the role

The Export Ocean Coordinator will manage end‑to‑end full container load (FCL) ocean export operations for a growing freight forwarding business. Working in a hybrid Birmingham office, you will act as the main point of contact for shippers, carriers and overseas agents, ensuring shipments move smoothly and customers stay informed.

Key responsibilities

• Book carriers, prepare export documentation and track shipments for FCL ocean exports.
• Communicate proactively with shippers, consignees, carriers and overseas agents.
• Handle operational costing, invoicing and KPI reporting.
• Resolve shipment delays, issues and escalations promptly.
• Complete UK import and export customs declarations and maintain trade documentation compliance with HMRC and international regulations.
• Support EU road freight operations, including route planning and container delivery arrangements.
• Maintain accurate data in internal systems and liaise with internal teams and external partners.
• Assist with general freight operations as needed.

Required profile

• Strong experience in ocean export freight forwarding.
• Ability to manage the full export cycle independently.
• Hands‑on experience with customs declarations.
• Excellent organisational skills and capacity to handle multiple shipments.
• Background in freight forwarding and knowledge of CFSP/IP customs procedures.
