Financial Accountant – Insurance Specialist

About the role

Brown & Brown is expanding its Finance team in London to support a growing portfolio of insurance businesses. The Financial Accountant will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, balance‑sheet control and regulatory compliance within a regulated insurance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the month‑end close, preparing and posting GL journal entries and transferring balances from RiskServe to Workday.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all transactions.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and resolve any reconciling items promptly.
• Produce profit and loss analysis, explain variances against prior periods and budgets, and comment on balance‑sheet movements.
• Assist with quarterly regulatory returns (FCA RMAR, Baseline resilience survey, ONS reports, VAT) and ensure adherence to internal and external accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and addressing audit points.
• Liaise with internal teams, auditors and external advisors, and contribute to ad‑hoc finance projects.
• Identify and implement process improvements in month‑end close, GL handling and reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Experience in insurance accounting and regulatory reporting.
