Financial Controller – Fin‑Tech Lender (Hybrid, London)

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to join a high‑growth SME lender operating in the fin‑tech sector in the City of London. The role is hybrid, with three days a week in the office, and combines strategic partnership with senior leaders and hands‑on financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a commercial partner to senior leadership, investors and key stakeholders, challenging and supporting strategic decisions.
• Build and own complex financial models, including revenue forecasting and scenario analysis.
• Establish FP&A processes from the ground up – budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking – and translate lending activity into actionable insights.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team, own month‑end close and management reporting.
• Improve reporting accuracy, speed and efficiency while transitioning manual, spreadsheet‑heavy processes to scalable systems.
• Oversee revenue recognition and reporting integrity.
• Drive automation across finance processes and work closely with Xero and internal loan management systems.
• Play a key role in future ERP implementation and continuously identify improvements to support business growth.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong academic background.
• Approximately 8‑10 years of experience within the fin‑tech industry, ideally with lending exposure.
• Strong FP&A capability with advanced financial‑modelling skills.
• Proven ability to operate both hands‑on and strategically.
• Experience improving processes, systems and controls within a growing business.
