Financial Controller – French Business (Remote, UK)

About the role

We are seeking a French‑focused Financial Controller to own the finance function for our French operations. Based in the UK and working fully remotely, you will partner with senior leadership to deliver accurate reporting, ensure statutory compliance, and drive performance analysis across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes in line with group deadlines and French statutory requirements.
• Prepare management accounts, profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow reports.
• Produce detailed financial reports with variance analysis and commentary for decision‑making.
• Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets and inter‑company transactions.
• Oversee banking activities, cash‑flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
• Monitor revenue recognition and ensure accurate accounting of project‑based and recurring income.
• Prepare and review French VAT returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Support statutory financial statements, corporate tax submissions and external audit coordination.
• Provide guidance across accounts payable, receivable, payroll, fixed assets and expense management.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls and reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Significant accounting and financial control experience, preferably within a software or technology environment.
• Strong knowledge of French GAAP, French tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience working in an international group structure.
• Fluent in French and English, with a hands‑on, analytical approach.
