GCSE English Lecturer

About the role

The College is seeking a GCSE English Lecturer to join its Foundation Studies department in Liverpool. This permanent, full‑time position involves delivering high‑quality English teaching to 16‑18 year‑old students as well as adult learners in evening classes, supporting both GCSE resits and functional skills programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging GCSE English lessons, using a variety of teaching techniques to motivate students.
• Monitor and assess student progress, provide constructive feedback and record marks in line with college assessment policies.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment and promote positive behaviour and respect.
• Contribute to curriculum development and programme design in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Academic Studies.
• Track attendance and progress, ensuring compliance with college systems and external assessment procedures.
• Participate in the college’s strategic objectives, mission and values implementation.
• Support students in achieving academic and personal goals, including guidance for GCSE resits and functional skills.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher – applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) are welcomed.
• Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior staff and curriculum teams.
