General Inserting Operative

About the role

The General Inserting Operative works on a newspaper production line, feeding inserts and printed sections into Ferag hoppers for mechanical insertion. The role ensures that every newspaper is correctly bundled with the required inserts and maintains a safe, tidy work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Feed inserts and printed sections into Ferag hoppers for mechanical insertion into newspapers.
• Ensure all newspapers coming down the F.A.T line are fully inserted with required inserts or sections.
• Reclaim newspapers into correct bundle sizes and route them to the appropriate line for strapping.
• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment, including sweeping, cleaning machines and vacuuming.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks at the end of production runs or when presses/Ferag lines are down, as directed by the Team Leader.

Required profile

• Good diligence and a high standard of work.
• Effective communication skills.
• Right to work in the UK.
• No prior experience required – full training will be provided.
