Graduate Teaching Assistant - English

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic English graduate to join a vibrant primary school classroom in Manchester. This graduate teaching assistant position offers hands‑on experience supporting teachers and students across Key Stages 1 and 2, and provides a solid foundation for future teacher training.

Key responsibilities

• Support English teachers in delivering KS1 and KS2 lessons.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group assistance in reading, writing and literary analysis.
• Help prepare teaching resources and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Encourage student engagement and progress in English.
• Cover classes occasionally, delivering pre‑set work.
• Collaborate with staff to uphold high standards of behaviour and learning.

Required profile

• A degree in English Literature, English Language or a related subject.
• Passion for education and supporting young learners.
• Strong communication and literacy skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to engage in all aspects of school life.
• Ability to manage a classroom when required (training provided).
