Graduate Teaching Assistant – Special Needs (North London)

About the role
We are seeking two enthusiastic graduates to join an outstanding special‑needs school in North London. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant you will support pupils aged 3‑19 with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties, helping them achieve academic and life‑skill goals.
Key responsibilities
- Assist class teachers in delivering literacy, numeracy and life‑skill lessons.
- Support pupils individually according to their Individualised Education Plans.
- Help create a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
- Participate in daily training and professional development sessions.
Required profile
- Recent graduate with a genuine interest in special‑needs education.
- Experience supporting children with learning difficulties (e.g., placements, volunteering).
- Motivation to pursue further teacher training or a postgraduate teaching qualification.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Required skills
- Basic understanding of autism and severe learning difficulties.
- Ability to follow structured lesson plans and adapt activities.
- Patience, empathy and resilience when working with diverse needs.
