Group Head of Recoveries & Subrogation

About the role

The Group Head of Recoveries & Subrogation will lead the global Recoveries and Salvage function for an international insurance organisation. This newly created strategic position shapes recovery strategy, improves operational performance and ensures consistent practices across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the global recoveries and subrogation strategy.
• Oversee day‑to‑day recoveries and salvage operations worldwide.
• Develop governance frameworks and drive consistent processes across regions.
• Manage key third‑party relationships and negotiate recovery agreements.
• Identify and implement opportunities to increase recoveries while reducing claims leakage.
• Modernise the function through technology, automation, AI and data analytics.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and influence executive decision‑making.

Required profile

• Significant experience in recoveries, subrogation and salvage within the insurance market.
• Strong understanding of commercial claims and global regulatory environments.
• Proven leadership with the ability to manage high‑performing, international teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive influencing skills.
• Track record of delivering change and operational excellence.
• Experience leading technology‑driven transformation initiatives.
