Head of Business Partnering – Children’s Services

About the role

As the Head of Business Partnering for Children’s services within a London borough council, you will lead financial planning and analysis to ensure resources are used effectively and decisions are data‑driven. This temporary, senior‑level position works closely with senior stakeholders across the public sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting for children’s services.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior managers and council leaders.
• Oversee budget preparation, monitoring, reporting and compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with service managers to optimise resource allocation and identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Support business cases with robust financial insights and drive continuous improvement of financial processes.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA).
• Proven experience in financial management within the public sector.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex financial information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.

What we offer

• Day rate between £700 and £975 (PAYE or Umbrella), dependent on experience.
