Head of Compliance and Building Safety

About the role

As the Head of Compliance and Building Safety you will lead the compliance function for a not‑for‑profit housing organisation in London. You will ensure that all properties meet current building safety regulations and that the organisation operates within a robust risk‑managed framework.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies and procedures across the property portfolio.
• Oversee risk assessments, audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are completed promptly.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
• Provide strategic advice and regular updates to senior leadership on compliance and safety matters.
• Monitor performance metrics and produce reports on compliance status.
• Coordinate training programmes to raise compliance awareness throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in compliance and building safety within the property or housing sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK building safety regulations and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage audits, inspections and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external regulators.
• Experience delivering strategic advice to senior leadership.

Required skills

• Knowledge of building safety legislation (e.g., Building Safety Act).
• Risk assessment and audit management.

What we offer

• Salary between £75,000 and £80,000 per year, dependent on experience.
