Head of Deals/Transaction Tax

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to create and lead a dedicated Deals Tax practice within a fast‑growing corporate finance platform. You will work closely with Transaction Services, M&A Advisory and Debt Advisory teams, advising private‑equity investors, portfolio companies and mid‑market corporates on buy‑side and sell‑side transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead the firm’s Deals Tax capability from inception.
• Deliver tax due diligence for UK and international buy‑side and sell‑side transactions.
• Advise private‑equity funds, portfolio companies and corporates on acquisitions, disposals and investments.
• Identify tax risks, opportunities and structuring considerations throughout the deal lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Transaction Services, M&A and Debt Advisory teams to provide an integrated deal offering.
• Support clients through competitive auction processes and bilateral transactions.
• Develop relationships with private‑equity houses, corporate clients, lawyers and other professional advisers.
• Recruit, mentor and develop a high‑performing Deals Tax team.
• Drive business development activities and help win new mandates.
• Influence the strategic growth of the wider Corporate Finance business.

Required profile

• Ambitious tax professional seeking to build a practice rather than inherit an existing team.
• Experience as a Deals/Transaction Tax Senior Manager in a Big 4 environment.
• Professional qualifications such as ACA, CTA or equivalent.
• Strong commercial focus and ability to work with private‑equity and mid‑market clients.
