Head of Finance (Fractional - 3 days a week)

About the role

Harper May is seeking a fractional Head of Finance to work three days a week on‑site at its Park Royal, London facility. Reporting to the Board, you will lead the in‑house finance team, raise the standard of reporting and controls, and drive the transformation of the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and structure the finance team, setting standards for reporting and controls.
• Establish a reliable, timely month‑end close and deliver clear, decision‑useful management information.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance and reporting discipline across the business.
• Review and improve costing models and product margin reporting in line with UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Partner with operations and commercial teams on budgeting, forecasting and scenario analysis.
• Provide commercially focused insight to the Board and senior management.
• Assess current finance systems and processes, recommending practical improvements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with senior post‑qualification experience at Head of Finance or Finance Director level.
• Strong grounding in UK GAAP, particularly FRS 102 revisions and technical accounting.
• Proven experience leading or transforming finance functions in manufacturing, food, FMCG or similarly complex environments.
• Practical, collaborative leadership style and willingness to work hands‑on with a small team.
• Track record of delivering reliable management information, robust costing models and disciplined month‑end processes.
• Available three days per week on‑site at the Park Royal location.
