Head of Investment Risk Oversight

About the role

The Head of Investment Risk Oversight provides second‑line risk oversight for People’s Investment Limited, an FCA‑regulated subsidiary that advises the Trustee Board of The People’s Pension, a £37bn UK DC Master Trust. Reporting to the Enterprise Risk Director and dotted‑line to the Chief Risk Officer, this senior leader ensures robust governance and strategic alignment of investment risk practices.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a comprehensive investment risk framework that meets regulatory expectations and organisational strategy.
• Provide independent second‑line challenge of investment strategies, proposals and risk analytics across all asset classes.
• Monitor portfolio risks, including market, credit, liquidity and ESG considerations, and produce regular risk reporting.
• Lead policy development, governance processes and regulatory engagement for investment risk management.
• Partner with the first‑line investment team and senior stakeholders to embed risk awareness and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in investment risk management within pensions, asset management or insurance.
• Strong understanding of institutional investment, regulatory requirements and fiduciary duties.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across functions.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills with a strategic mindset.
