About the role
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is seeking a senior leader to head its Legislative Policy function. You will steer evidence‑based policy positions, advise government, and protect the ICO’s regulatory remit amid major reforms.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary team in partnership with the Director.
- Provide expert insight on the ICO’s legislative framework and develop strategic policy positions.
- Analyse and advise on the impact of proposed legislative changes on individuals, businesses, and the regulator.
- Engage with senior decision‑makers, influencers and stakeholders in the UK and internationally.
- Identify emerging policy issues and deliver impactful policy products and responses.
- Represent the ICO in external forums and contribute to public consultations.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in legislative or regulatory policy, preferably within the public sector.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape strategic direction.
- Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
- Track record of delivering high‑quality policy outputs and managing diverse teams.
