Head of People & Culture (Hybrid, Redhill)

About the role

The Head of People & Culture will lead Santander Consumer Finance UK’s people agenda, shaping a healthy, sustainable environment for all colleagues. Reporting to the CEO, this senior leader will work closely with the Executive Committee to embed culture, talent, and organisational design across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the People & Culture function, including Business Partners, Recruitment, Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Culture teams.
• Develop high‑performing teams through coaching, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
• Engage with recognised trade union representatives and act as the escalation point for union matters.
• Partner with Santander shared‑services stakeholders to deliver integrated HR solutions.
• Identify and implement People & Culture initiatives that support colleague development and enhance customer experience, aligned with the Strategic Blueprint.
• Assess current and future state culture using data‑driven insights and translate findings into actionable focus areas.
• Embed Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) across all processes, driving business value and positive customer outcomes.
• Support the CEO in organisational design and values‑driven culture strategies.
• Oversee Facilities management, including relationships with third‑party suppliers and on‑site engineering.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience with full HR accountability.
• Proven ability to manage experienced professional teams at a senior manager level.
• Deep understanding of business strategy, operating models, and regulatory landscape within consumer finance.
• Strategic thinker with strong external market awareness.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
