Healthcare Support Worker – Alcohol & Drug Recovery

About the role

This full‑time, permanent position is based at Rowan Business Park and supports the South Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service. You will work alongside experienced Addiction Nurses to help individuals with addiction challenges engage with services, improve their health and wellbeing, and access appropriate care.

Key responsibilities

• Support service users to engage with addiction services and access care.
• Assist with clinic delivery and perform delegated clinical duties under a Registered Nurse’s supervision.
• Take observations and clinical measurements such as blood pressure, height and weight.
• Collect and process samples, and help with patient assessments and medical appointments.
• Conduct joint visits with colleagues and provide community‑based support.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic systems according to local procedures.
• Provide administrative support including appointment booking, telephone enquiries, record keeping and liaison with healthcare professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience in addiction services, mental health, or a related healthcare environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
• Good initiative, time‑management and organisational skills.
