High-Rise Caretaker – Housing Services

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated High‑Rise Caretaker to maintain safe, clean and welcoming communal areas across residential towers in Manchester. The role combines cleaning, facilities management, security and resident liaison duties.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and janitorial tasks in communal areas, grounds and building exteriors.
• Carry out regular inspections, report defects and ensure compliance with health, safety and fire regulations.
• Manage repair requests, coordinate with contractors and oversee timely completion of maintenance work.
• Act as key holder, conduct risk assessments and support security procedures.
• Provide responsive service to residents, handle enquiries and promote community initiatives.
• Maintain waste disposal sites and support upkeep of gardens and green spaces.
• Record repairs, inspections and compliance activities using the council’s IT systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cleaning, caretaking, facilities or estate services.
• Strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities in a residential setting.
• Ability to conduct inspections and identify maintenance or security issues.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Competent record‑keeping and basic IT system use.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
