About the role

As a Home Delivery Driver for Sainsbury’s you will be the final link in getting online grocery orders to customers’ doorsteps. You will operate a 3.5‑tonne van, ensuring timely and safe deliveries while representing the brand with a friendly, customer‑focused attitude.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a 3.5‑tonne van to deliver groceries to residential and commercial addresses across a defined route.
• Perform pre‑departure checks to confirm the van is clean, road‑worthy and that delivery cases are securely loaded.
• Interact with customers, answer queries, manage substitutions and communicate any delays.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and use digital tools to track orders.
• Assist in store duties when not on delivery routes, supporting stock replenishment and customer service.

Required profile

• Age 18 or over with a full UK/EU driving licence held for at least 12 months and no more than 6 penalty points.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Ability to pass an online driving risk assessment and a practical driving assessment.
• Physical capability to lift and move shopping containers up to 15 kg.

Required skills

• Proficient driving of a large vehicle in varied environments, from busy streets to narrow lanes.
• Comfort with using digital devices and delivery management software.
