Housing Officer – Supported Housing (London/Hertfordshire)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Officer to join a not‑for‑profit provider of supported housing for vulnerable adults. Based in London with responsibilities across Hertfordshire, you will help tenants maintain their tenancies and progress towards independent living.

Key responsibilities

• Guide tenants through the sign‑up process and ensure Housing Benefit applications are completed accurately.
• Resolve tenancy issues in partnership with on‑site support staff, providing advice and practical solutions.
• Manage lettings and allocations, ensuring compliance with housing policies and legislation.
• Oversee tenancy terminations and coordinate smooth transitions for departing tenants.
• Monitor rent payments, assist with Housing Benefit claims, and support the Income and Revenues team on bad‑debt matters.
• Conduct property visits for wellbeing checks, condition inspections, and care‑planning liaison with health professionals.

Required profile

• Relevant housing management qualifications; CIH Level 3 is desirable.
• Proven experience working for a housing association or in a similar supported‑housing role.
• Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit regulations and the supported‑housing sector.
• Excellent communication skills and a resilient, ‘can‑do’ attitude.

Required skills

• Understanding of tenancy management and housing policy compliance.
• Experience with Housing Benefit application processes.
