Indirect Tax Director – Financial Services (Insurance)

About the role

The Indirect Tax Director will lead the insurance‑focused indirect tax practice within a growing financial services team. You will shape strategy, develop talent and advise on complex VAT and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) matters for insurers, brokers and MGAs.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the growth strategy for the insurance indirect tax offering.
• Build and nurture senior client relationships, delivering commercially focused VAT and IPT advice.
• Lead large‑scale indirect tax engagements from scoping through implementation.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a high‑performing culture.
• Represent the firm at industry events, contributing to thought leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive technical expertise in VAT and IPT within the insurance sector.
• Proven ability to translate complex legislation into clear commercial advice.
• Track record of winning new business and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
• Strong people leadership and mentoring experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
