Lead Developer

About the role

As a Lead Developer at a global technology business serving millions of customers, you will drive the creation of new functionality while guiding a high‑performing engineering team. You will work closely with Platform Engineering, Product, Design, Test and Project Management to shape technical direction, improve processes and ensure timely delivery of scalable software.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and maintenance of software applications, ensuring quality, efficiency and performance.
• Collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to enhance tooling, CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and scalable code across the full stack.
• Debug, resolve issues, fix bugs and optimise performance.
• Provide technical direction through code reviews and mentoring of team members.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and apply learnings to improve development practices.
• Create and maintain accurate documentation for design, code, tests and user‑facing technical materials.
• Act as a liaison between Engineering and Senior Management, communicating progress, risks and technical challenges.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.
• Solid experience with SQL and MySQL databases.
• Proven experience building enterprise‑grade single‑page applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with modern frameworks.
• Confidence with Git and source‑control best practices.
• Deep understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, software design and architecture.
• Experience with Test‑Driven Development (TDD).
• Demonstrated success working in an Agile environment.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a problem‑solving mindset.
