Lead Lawyer – Recoveries

About the role

Keoghs LLP is seeking an experienced insurance lawyer to lead its Recoveries team within the Property Risks & Coverage practice. Based in one of our regional offices, you will manage a portfolio of sub‑rogated property recovery files and drive both legal and commercial outcomes for leading insurers.

Key responsibilities

• Initial review of recovery files and assessment of funding options.
• Investigating evidence, gathering facts, and conducting third‑party investigations.
• Instructing counsel and experts, and managing litigation from pre‑action to trial.
• Drafting pleadings, Part 36 offers, and other legal documents.
• Negotiating settlements and handling ADR processes, including mediation and joint settlement meetings.
• Attending conferences, trials, and court appointments; providing advocacy by phone and in person.
• Managing a team’s service delivery, budgeting, and professional development.
• Delivering client‑focused training seminars and workshops on technical legal issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in insurance law, particularly sub‑rogated property recoveries.
• Strong people‑leadership and line‑management capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and meet quality service standards.
• Excellent client‑relationship skills and a track record of developing business.
• Willingness to contribute to training and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
