Management Accountant – Investment Management (12‑14 month FTC)

About the role

This 12‑14 month fixed‑term contract supports a leading investment management firm in London. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will join a six‑person in‑house finance team and cover maternity leave duties.

Key responsibilities

• Review and post accounting journals in Sage Intacct, including ad‑hoc entries.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements for the group and subsidiaries.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and balance‑sheet reconciliations for assigned business units.
• Cover payment runs during staff absences.
• Analyse monthly expenses against budget, forecast and prior periods, investigating significant variances.
• Calculate, post and reconcile monthly expense accruals with proper documentation.
• Liaise with internal colleagues and external service providers (fund administrators, suppliers) to resolve finance queries.
• Escalate major variances, unresolved differences and control issues to the Head of Finance.
• Support automation and process‑improvement initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Newly qualified or later‑stage part‑qualified management accountant with 2‑3 years relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles, double‑entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Experience preparing and posting journals, accruals and other month‑end adjustments.
• Proven ability to perform expense analysis and investigate variances.
• Excellent reconciliation skills and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
