Mechanical Engineer – Building Services (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a respected building services consultancy in Birmingham. The role offers a hybrid working pattern (2 days in the office, 3 days remote) and provides a clear path towards Senior Engineer level while working on diverse, high‑value projects across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Produce mechanical building services designs for heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning and associated plant.
• Support projects through all RIBA stages, from concept to detailed design.
• Prepare technical calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Coordinate with internal and external design teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Attend project meetings and liaise with clients, architects, contractors and consultants.
• Deliver efficient, sustainable and technically robust design solutions that comply with UK regulations and industry standards.

Required profile

• Experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer or Building Services Engineer within a consultancy environment.
• Proven experience designing HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
• Understanding of UK building regulations and mechanical design standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to progress professionally.
