New Business Consultant

About the role

The Lockton Benefits team is seeking an Associate Consultant to join its Manchester or Bristol operation. You will act as the primary day‑to‑day client consultant for new SME clients, overseeing the Benefits Analyst and ensuring a smooth transition from sales to service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate onboarding of new SME clients, managing SharePoint setup, CRM updates, compliance checks and internal checklists.
• Allocate tasks to and supervise the Benefits Analyst, reviewing census data, policy information, benefit specifications and implementation documentation.
• Quality‑check outputs such as quotes, reports, benchmarking analyses and presentations.
• Provide technical coaching and day‑to‑day guidance to develop the Analyst’s skills.
• Act as the primary adviser for clients, conducting benefit reviews, renewals and placements, and offering advice on scheme design, coverage and pricing.
• Strengthen relationships with insurers and clients by attending onboarding, review and renewal meetings, resolving issues and identifying cross‑sell opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in UK employee benefits broking or consulting, with a focus on healthcare and/or group risk.
• Strong commercial awareness of the SME market, insurer propositions and the broader health, risk and wellbeing landscape.
• Excellent client‑facing communication skills, able to build trust, present confidently and negotiate professionally.
• Demonstrated ability in relationship management and business development.
