Operational Trainer / Assessor

About the role

Arriva TrainCare is seeking an experienced Operational Trainer / Assessor to deliver safety‑critical training across its national depot network. Based in Crewe, you will travel to multiple locations, designing engaging programmes and assessing competence to ensure the highest standards of safety and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical training on track safety, driving and shunting, and rail equipment.
• Design and develop learning materials tailored to operational and contract requirements.
• Plan and conduct workplace‑based assessments for vocational qualifications, providing evidence‑based feedback.
• Maintain accurate training records and support competency frameworks.
• Coordinate training logistics, resources and scheduling with stakeholders.
• Monitor training effectiveness, mentor other trainers and champion a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in the rail industry, preferably within train depot operations.
• Proven ability to deliver training and conduct workplace assessments.
• Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
