Part‑time Assistant Head & SENCO (Maternity Cover)

About the role
This is a one‑year fixed‑term, part‑time position (four days a week) covering maternity leave for a Primary Assistant Head who also holds the SENCO portfolio. The role starts in September 2026 in a highly rated primary school in the borough of Wandsworth.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the school's SEN provision and develop Educational Health Plans for pupils with additional needs.
- Support the Senior Leadership Team in strategic planning and school improvement.
- Manage a medium case load of pupils, coordinating with teachers, parents, and external specialists.
- Deliver high‑quality CPD for staff on inclusive teaching practices.
Required profile
- Qualified SENCO with proven experience in a primary setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with staff, families, and external agencies.
- Ability to manage a team and handle a medium case load effectively.
Required skills
- SENCO qualification.
- Experience creating and delivering Educational Health Plans.
- Team leadership and case‑management experience.
